Do you always perform as Merlin the Magician?
No, I often perform as myself, as Professor Palmer the Riverboat Gambler, Hocvs Pocvs or as a special character that you have in mind. Click here for more information.
Do you perform at children's parties?
I do not perform at children's parties, per se. I prefer to perform at family gatherings. The difference is that the adults are sitting with the children during the show. This provides an atmosphere far more conducive to good entertainment--besides, my show is for adults as well as children

What kind of magic do you do?
Perhaps I should answer this with an explanation of the kinds of magic that are avalable. Magic may be divided into several different categories. Some of us prefer to do this according to the size of the magic being performed--which is usually similar to the size of the audience that is involved.
The smallest type of magic is close-up magic. This is usually performed with small props--such as cards, coins, small borrowed objects, etc. The directly involved audience would be up to fifteen people. The magician may be seated or standing. Most walk-around or strolling magic is close-up magic.
Next, there is a larger type of magic, called night club, parlor, or stand-up magic. This is usually performed either at one end of a room, on a dance floor, or on a small stage. The props are larger, as is the audience. The audience may be anywhere from ten to 200 people.
Finally, there is the illusion show. The props are very large, there may be several assistants, and many of the items are performed with people or large animals--vanishing an elephant, sawing a lady in half--I think you get the idea now.
I perform all three types. My show is comedy oriented, with lots of audience participation.
How long is your show?
That depends on your requirements. I can do a few hours of walk-around magic for you or I can do a full two hour stage show for you. It depends entirely on your situation.
How do you do those amazing things?
Very well. Actually, I don't give away my secrets. Magic is really more fun when you are fooled and pleasantly surprised.
